Introduction to Computers 

  • This course is designed to teach you about computation and its purpose. It covers the same materials as an introductory class for undergraduates. The curriculum includes software, hardware and algorithms and does not require a formal computer background.
  • The rewards for taking this course are boundless. Though a subject in itself, it can be applied to almost any other discipline from accounting to zoology.
  • The job prospect for computer scientists and computer engineers are excellent.

Web Design and Development 

  • This encompasses many different skills and disciplines in the production and maintenance of websites. The different areas include : graphic design, interface design, authoring, user experience design and search engine optimization
    • Prerequisite: Introduction to computers

Graphic Design

  • Graphic design is the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content. The experience can take place in an instant or over a long period of time. 
  • Design that’s meant to be experienced in an instant is the easiest to recognize and has been around the longest.

  • Where it’s used:
    • This is beneficial for the creation of posters, advertisements, packages and other printed material including graphics for books, newspapers, commercial websites, exhibition catalogues, magazines etc.
      • Prerequisite : Introduction to computers

​Software Development 

  • Software developers are the creative minds behind computer programs and user interface. Some are responsible for the development of the applications that allow users perform specific tasks with computers or devices while others develop the underlying systems that run the device or control the network.

  • The following are types of developers
    • Application software developers
      • They design computer applications such as processors and games for consumers
    • Systems software developers
      • They create the systems that keep the computers functioning properly.  They are responsible for creating the operating systems that control most of the consumer electronics in use today.
